The Nigeria Police Force says Nigerians have the right to search its men in select circumstances. The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said this in a statement on Monday title0d, ‘(Part 2) Tips For Safe And Cordial Conduct During An Arrest.’ The Police said if an officer is about to search a citizen or a property, that citizen has the right to first search the policeman in order to ensure that no evidence is planted. According to the NPF, Nigerians also have the right to demand to know the reason for their arrest whenever an arrest is about to be made.The Force spokesman further stated that in some instances, Nigerians have the right to demand that an arrest warrant is presented before allowing themselves to be apprehended. 41 Killed After Russian Plane Catches Fire.

Forty-one people were killed when a Russian passenger plane made a fiery crash-landing Sunday at a Moscow airport, said Elena Markovskaya, a member of the country’s Investigative Committee. Two children are among the dead, according to the committee. The Russian Superjet 100 was flying from Moscow to Murmansk when a fire broke out on board. Aeroflot Flight SU1492 returned to Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport, making a hard landing, news agency Interfax reported. Thirty-seven people survived, Markovskaya told reporters at Sheremetyevo Airport. Five survivors are hospitalized, she said. The plane had 73 passengers and five crew members on board. Travelling out of Nigeria for most people, especially the first time travellers is a worrisome experience. To be fair, I think the process of checking-in at any of the international airports to the point of boarding the aircraft is more tedious, stressful, energy consuming and frustrating than the process of getting the travel visa itself. For most cases, the passengers cannot move one point to another without parting with cash as in the form of bribe. The presence of enormous security personal and unnecessary screening points is quite embarrassing and time-consuming. Cyclone Hits Mozambique And Zimbabwe, 100 People Dead, 200 Missing .

No fewer than 100 people have died and many more are missing in Mozambique and neighbouring Zimbabwe on Sunday after tropical cyclone Idai barrelled across the southern African nations with flash floods and ferocious winds. Authorities in Zimbabwe said the toll there had risen to 65 in the east of the country, while Mozambique said 48 people were killed in affected central areas, after the cyclone tore across the region on Friday and Saturday.  A member of parliament for Zimbabwe’s Chimanimani district the worst hit part of the country gave the updated toll and added that scores remain missing, after houses and bridges were washed away by flash floods when the storm slammed the area. Eleven Killed As Suicide Bombers, Gunman Attack Worshippers In Maiduguri Eleven persons have died in an early morning suicide attack on Muslim worshippers in Maiduguri, Borno State. The suicide bombers, two of them, accompanied by a gunman, infiltrated a mosque in Kushari village behind old CBN quarters Maiduguri at about 5:30am. According to a statement issued by the Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu, an “On-the-spot assessment at the scene revealed that at about 0540hrs gunmen suspected to be BH terrorists & suicide bombers infiltrated Gwozari/Kushari in Polo general area, Maiduguri shooting sporadically & detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies.” The statement further says “Eleven people including three bombers died while fifteen others sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized at the State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri.” Damian added that Clearance operations are ongoing by teams of EOD, SARS, PMF, NSCDC and the Military.

BREAKING: INEC May Postpone Election Till Tuesday For Logistics Reasons

Reports  indicate that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may postpone the 2019 general elections scheduled to begin tomorrow till Tuesday for logistics reasons. A credible source in INEC said the development may be due to the fact that sensitive materials needed for the election are yet to be distributed in some states of the federation. He also said the Commission is trying to put adequate security measures in place. INEC Chairman, Professor Manhood Yakubu and other senior officials of the commission as well as other relevant agencies crucial to the conduct of the election are currently in an emergency.
